Blog | Date: February 13, 2024

And just like that … We find ourselves in February! It is leap year – we at least have an extra day to get things done.
As Claire indicated, we have a busy events calendar this year. We hosted our first 2 events for 2024 already and have 3 more events planned for February alone. Do come and join us – these are all “live/in person events” and not only does it provide you with information, but it is also great networking opportunities.

I would like to thank Marlize, who assisted our members with their CPD submissions during November and December and Ishara for pushing through all the hiccups with the new online accounting system. Indeed a formidable team.

As you are all most likely aware … SACAP has changed their platform for the logging of CPD events attended. Please keep an eye on your mails from SACAP as I was promised that they’ll share more information regarding this matter with all the registered professionals.

The PIA will be looking for new premises as from the end of July. The requirements will be forwarded to you all soon and we would like you all to assist us in finding an affordable and suitable home for the PIA.

Herewith also a reminder for you all to get your artistic juices flowing, as this year September, we’ll be hosting the Architects as Artists Exhibition again.

Please remember that we are only an e-mail, a call or a visit away!
Have a great month all!

FINANCES
The invoices were sent out and we are 80% paid up. Our budget and service delivery greatly relies on the membership contributions and we appeal to the remaining 20% of our membership to please pay their fees before the end of February as we are more than half way through this financial year, If you, for some reason. have not received your invoice or for any queries regarding finances and payment options, please contact Ishara on finance@pia.org.za.

OFFICE/PRACTICE VISITS
I have visited with several of our members at their offices and the information obtained is really valuable. It is a great way to see where we can improve and establish what is needed from the PIA. Instead of me trying to fit you into my schedule (which I’ll do if I must), I would like you to invite me for a visit (083 297 4697) at your office in the morning – any morning. I am really looking forward to meeting with all you.

UPDATE YOUR PROFILE ON THE PIA WEBSITE
Have you moved offices recently? Changed your e-mail, practice or telephone number? I would like to also encourage all our members to log into your profiles on the PIA Website and check that the information we have for you is correct and up to date. Check your info now!
Please remember – to log into your profile, you need your e-mail and PIA membership number.

WhatsApp Groups
There is a City of Tshwane Broadcast WhatsApp group where all this information is relayed. Please use the following link to join the group: Join the group

The PIA also has a PIA group for PIA Members Only: Join the PIA Member group
Please note that this is for PIA Members ONLY and that non-members on this group will be removed. This is a really valuable source of information and we encourage our members to join this group. This covers discussions about all things architecture and not only council matters. If you are not yet part of these groups, please click on the links and join.

Online CPD – Pre-recorded Courses
The PIA has several recorded courses which are available via our website for you to catch up on your CPD Credits in Cat 1 if you have some catch-up to do.

These workshops can all be done when you have the time available to do so. Now, is that not convenient?

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information. Tel: 012 346 1051 or e-mail: cpd@pia.org.za
