IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Commissions, Publicity, Expenses, etc:

The artist is responsible for the delivery and collection of all the artworks to and from the gallery. Neither the gallery nor the PIA undertake to do packaging, transportation or the arranging of transportation of the artworks and does not store the artist’s packaging material. (The PIA will assist those exhibitors from out of town as per arrangement only.)

Note: Although the greatest care is taken, neither the gallery, nor the PIA accept any responsibility for the loss or damage to the work of an artist while in the care of the gallery. The gallery cannot be held responsible for the safety of, and possible damage to, any unsold artworks that are not collected on the specified date.

Commission
All artworks on exhibition must be for sale, should an artwork not be for sale it may only be exhibited with approval of the gallery management. Any sales made by the gallery on behalf of the artist cannot be retracted by the artist.
The Association takes 33⅓% commission on the selling price of artworks sold by the gallery (of which the PIA will get 7.5%), inclusive of artworks promoted by the gallery and which may be sold prior or subsequent to the exhibition. The correct way of calculating the selling price is the artist’s price plus 50%, i.e. R1 000 + R500 = R1 500.

Publicity
In order to obtain the best media coverage, the PIA will promote this event as well as the gallery. A press release will also be done and distributed to various magazines, newspapers, etc. in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Invitations and marketing is done electronically and via social media

Expenses
The gallery rent, the distribution of invitations, refreshments for the opening of the exhibition, casual wages and administrative expenses will be paid by the PIA (Exhibition fees and possible sponsorships will assist with this).
Members pay R150.00 per selected artwork for the exhibition and non-members R200.00 per selected item.

Preparation of artworks
Please make sure that all 2 dimensional works are fitted with flat hanging brackets or ringlets and a cord in order that they may be easily hung. The gallery will undertake the labelling of the works.

NB:
Please ensure that you forward the following information with your submission to the PIA office (management@pia.org.za) by no later than 16H00 on 19 August 2022
