The conference is aimed at all design professionals and architects in order to inspire exceptional design and to explore synergies across the different disciplines of design. Delegates will be spoilt with an array of talks that are sure to birth new ideas. PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME IDEA DESIGN CONFERENCE 2019
Organised by the Art Historical Work Group of South Africa that sponsors the South African Journal of Art History, in collaboration with the Pretoria Institute for Architecture.
Theme: “Tradition and Transformation” – Conceptions and perceptions of change in the visual arts and architecture
Venue: The Garden Room, Future Africa Campus, University of Pretoria
The conference is addressed to academics, researchers and professionals with a particular interest related to the conference topic. Proposals were invited from the following disciplines: Art and Architectural History, Aesthetics, Film and Photography, and Visual Culture.
The conference will explore tradition and transformation as fundamental categories of human experience and cognition and will discuss various interpretations of these categories and complex relations between them. The conference will examine conceptions and perceptions of traditions and transformations in relation to historical, political and social change, technological innovations, interactivity and cultural differentiation, and style and paradigm changes.
Papers were invited on topics related to the themes mentioned. Selected papers will be published in the South African Journal of Art History, a peer reviewed, accredited journal.
